Refugee Council

Refugee Council Services

The Refugee Council is the largest refugee organisation in the UK providing advice and assistance to asylum seekers and refugees in London, the East of England, West Midlands and Yorkshire and Humberside.

We provide free advice and information through our One Stop Services where you can meet face to face with an advisor who speaks your language. You can discuss any problems you may have as an asylum seeker or refugee.

Refugee Council is committed to providing fair and equal treatment to all service users whatever their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or political belief.

Important notices:

Refugee Council can advise you on your entitlements and the meaning of laws. We don’t provide legal advice or legal representation but if we cannot help, we will provide contact details of legal representatives or will refer you to them.

The Refugee Council will advise you in your best interest. We cannot change decisions about your asylum application but we are sometimes able to negotiate on your behalf about your application for accommodation and financial support.

Definitions:

The Border and Immigration Agency (BIA) is an agency of the Home Office which is part of the Government responsible for making decisions on asylum applications.

Support applications are also decided by the Border and Immigration Agency. These were previously administered by the National Asylum Support Service.
